Here is another fine example of my wallpapering, completed for a lovely customer in Wollaton. The walls had previously been painted with a value Matt Emulsion, which made the surface porous. With that I mind, I applied a PVA solution to seal the walls. This also helps with hanging the paper, as it can be maneuvered more easily, rather than the walls sucking the paste off the paper and turning the task into a complete disaster.
I always enjoy a challenge, particularly when I’m hanging paper. Although this toilet is a very small space, it proved to be one of the more complex tasks that I’ve completed in recent years.
Areas around the wash basin were particularly awkward. I was required to hang a full sheet from the ceiling, bring it down and cut into a very small area just below the sink. Window recesses are always going to be time consuming, especially when you’re not only wrapping the paper into the sides of the recess, but also installing the paper from the ceiling, into the upper part of the recess. This involves a technique called splicing and takes a steady hand and patients.
Overall I am extremely pleased with the results, Nearly as pleased as my customer! :)
